Linus Analytics, Inc.

Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 11, 2026

At Linus, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how Linus Analytics, Inc. ("Linus," "we," or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, IoT devices, SaaS platform, and related services (the "Services").

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Our Services are designed for business use, and we primarily collect information related to business operations rather than personal consumer data.

Your use of the Services is also subject to our Terms of Use.

  • Payment information: bank account details for electronic payments are collected and processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full bank account numbers on our servers.
  • Communications: messages you send us via email or through the Services
  • IoT device configuration: device identifiers (including RFID tag IDs for hoppers and bins), location of installed devices, scale configurations, and setup preferences
  • Facility configuration: machine types and locations, bin capacities and thresholds, scrap product grades, and routing rules

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: how you interact with the Services, features used, pages visited, and actions taken
  • Authentication and session data: IP address and browser information collected at login for security purposes
  • Device and browser data: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
  • Operational data from IoT devices: scale weight readings, RFID tag scans, scrap metal weights and grades, bin fill levels, pickup and transfer records, and trailer visit data (including optional license plate and tractor numbers recorded at the scalehouse)
  • Log data: access times, error logs, and referring URLs

Session replay: We may use session replay tools to record how users interact with our platform. This helps us improve the user experience and troubleshoot issues. Session replays capture clicks, scrolling, and page navigation within the Services but do not capture passwords or payment card numbers.

  • Analyze usage patterns and improve the Services, including aggregated scrap production analytics and facility benchmarking
  • Provide customer support
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Detect and resolve data quality issues (e.g., scale variance detection, duplicate event filtering)

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

Service Providers. We share information with third-party vendors who help us operate the Services. These include cloud hosting providers, payment processors, authentication providers, email delivery services, commodity pricing providers, and analytics tools. These providers are contractually required to use your information only to provide services to us.

Business Transactions. Between manufacturers and dealers using the platform, we share relevant transaction data (e.g., scrap metal weights and grades, pickup requests, scalehouse records, and payment amounts) as necessary to facilitate the Services.

Legal Requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Business Transfers. If Linus is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using the Services.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following categories of third-party services to operate the platform. Each provider has its own privacy policy governing its use of data:

  • Authentication: We use a third-party identity provider to manage user login, account invitations, and session security. This provider receives your name, email address, and authentication events.
  • Payment processing: We use Stripe to process electronic payments between dealers and manufacturers, including ACH bank transfers and payouts to connected accounts. Stripe collects and stores bank account information directly. For more information, see Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. We also retain information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. Operational data (scale readings, transfer events, pickup records) is retained for a reasonable period for reporting, auditing, and compliance purposes, as this data may be needed to verify scrap weights and payments.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

Because our Services are business-facing, most of the data we process relates to business operations rather than personal consumer data. If your employer or business partner provided your information to us, you may need to contact them directly for certain requests.

10. Children's Privacy

The Services are intended for business use and are not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Services. The "Effective date" at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated.
